Most of the work a garage does can be done on a driveway. As a mobile vehicle mechanic we bring the tools, parts and diagnostic equipment to you, so you can carry on with your day while your car or van is repaired. Jump to a service:

Mobile car servicing in Enfield

A regular service is the simplest way to keep a car reliable, and with a mobile mechanic it doesn’t cost you a day. We service cars and vans on your driveway or at work: fresh engine oil and a new oil filter, the other filters and fluids your car’s schedule calls for, and a proper check of brakes, tyres, lights, steering and suspension.

If we find something that needs attention, we show you and tell you what it will cost. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

  • Interim & full services
  • Oil & oil filter changes
  • Air, fuel & cabin filters
  • Fluid checks & top-ups
  • Brake, tyre, light & wiper checks
  • Advice on anything that needs doing

Mobile car diagnostics

An engine management light, a car that’s lost power, a misfire, rough idling or a fault that comes and goes. Modern cars store fault codes for most of these, and we read them on the spot with a diagnostic reader plugged into the car’s OBD port.

A code tells you where to look, not always what has failed, so we then test the parts involved before replacing anything. It’s how one of our Google reviewers found out their non-start was a failed coil pack, a fault other mechanics had missed.

  • Engine management lights
  • Misfires & rough running
  • Loss of power & limp mode
  • Dashboard warning lights
  • Intermittent faults
  • Codes cleared once the fault is fixed

Brake & suspension repairs

Squealing, grinding, a brake pedal that feels soft, or a car that pulls to one side when you brake all need looking at quickly. We replace brake pads and discs on your driveway, often the same day you call, and check the calipers, hoses and brake fluid while the wheels are off.

We also put right suspension faults: knocks over speed bumps, worn parts and broken springs that make a car feel loose or uneven.

  • Brake pads & discs
  • Squealing or grinding brakes
  • Soft or spongy pedal
  • Pulling under braking
  • Suspension knocks & rattles
  • Worn suspension parts

Engine repairs, timing belts & cylinder heads

From a timing belt that’s due for replacement to cylinder head repairs, coil packs, sensors and leaks. Timing belts in particular are worth changing on time: on many engines a snapped belt can cause serious engine damage.

We’ll explain what we’ve found, what the repair involves and what can safely wait.

  • Timing belt replacement
  • Cylinder head repairs
  • Coil packs & ignition faults
  • Oil & coolant leaks
  • Overheating
  • Unusual engine noises

More mobile repairs

Electrics, clutches, exhausts, inspections & vans

Car Electrics & Wiring

Our van says it plainly: all electric works and diagnostics. A battery that keeps going flat, a starter motor that just clicks, an alternator that isn’t charging, or lights, switches and wiring that have stopped working. We test the charging and starting system before replacing anything, so you don’t pay for a battery when the real fault is the alternator.

  • Battery testing & replacement
  • Alternator replacement
  • Starter motors
  • Lights, switches & wiring

Clutch & Gearbox

A clutch that slips, bites high, feels heavy or makes gear changes difficult is wearing out. We carry out clutch repairs and gearbox replacement for cars and vans, and we’ll tell you honestly whether the problem is the clutch, the release bearing or the gearbox before any work starts.

  • Slipping clutch
  • High biting point
  • Heavy clutch pedal
  • Gearbox replacement

Exhaust Repairs

A blowing, rattling or suddenly louder exhaust usually means a leak, a broken hanger or a failing section. We repair and replace exhaust parts at your home or work, which also helps if an exhaust problem has come up on an MOT.

  • Blowing or noisy exhausts
  • Rattles & broken hangers
  • Section replacement
  • MOT exhaust failures

Vehicle Inspections

Want to know the real condition of a car or van? We give it a thorough mechanical look-over and tell you plainly what’s fine, what needs doing soon and what can wait. Useful when a car has been standing, before a long journey, or when you want a second opinion.

  • Mechanical condition check
  • Brakes, steering & suspension
  • Leaks, noises & warning lights
  • Honest verbal report

Mobile Van Mechanic

We’re a mobile car and van mechanic, so vans and light commercials get the same service: servicing, diagnostics, brakes, clutches, electrics and repairs, done where the van is. For tradespeople and delivery drivers that means less time off the road and no day lost at a garage.

  • Van servicing
  • Van diagnostics
  • Brakes & clutches
  • Repairs at your home or yard

Car won’t start?

It’s one of the most common reasons people call us, and we can usually find the cause where the car is. Tell us what happens when you turn the key: a click, slow cranking, no lights at all, or the engine turning over without firing. That helps us come prepared.

FAQs

Mobile repair questions

Where we work, warning lights, MOTs and how long jobs take.

Where do you need to work on my car?

Anywhere it’s safe and legal to work on it: a driveway, a residential street, a car park at work or a customer car park where you have permission. We need enough space to get around the car and, for some jobs, to lift it safely.

Can you fix an engine warning light?

Usually, yes. The light means the engine management system has stored a fault code. We read the code, test the part it points to, and repair the actual cause. Clearing the light without fixing the fault just means it comes back.

Can you do my MOT?

MOT tests have to be carried out at an approved MOT test centre, so a mobile mechanic can’t test your car. What we can do is fix many common MOT failures and advisories, such as brakes, bulbs, suspension parts and exhaust problems, before or after the test.

How long does a mobile repair take?

Simple jobs such as a battery or brake pads can be quick, while a clutch or timing belt takes longer. We’ll give you an idea of timing when you book, and if a part has to be ordered we’ll tell you before we start.

Is a mobile mechanic as good as a garage?

For the jobs a mobile mechanic takes on, yes. The difference is where the work happens, not how. You also get to talk to the person actually working on your car, and you can see what’s being done.

Do you repair auto electrical faults?

Yes. Our van says “all electric works and diagnostics” for a reason: batteries, alternators, starter motors, lights, switches and wiring faults are a big part of what we do.
